Cons: The idea that you would use drywall anchors to mount this is a joke. That might be safe for a 100Lb person, but for a 200Lb person that's an accident waiting to happen, even with 5 drywall anchors. As a static point of pressure it might be fine, but during the act of pressing up in a dip you're applying more than your bodyweight of sheer force to the mount points. This requires either mounting it to the studs in the wall, which is impossible with the hole configuration of the back plate or using boards as stringers for this purpose. I used 2x6s as stringers and I can say that there's still a lot of pressure being applied to the boards themselves when using this dip bar and I don't have any extra weight on yet. I know it would llikely be obnoxious, but having a back plate that is designed to be mounted to wall studs would be a much safer design. Even though this would be difficult and would ultimately take up more wall space than the current compact design.
All in all I would recommend buying this, but if you do, plan to mount a 2x12 to at least 2 studs in your wall with the dip station attached to the 2x12. It wouldn't be safe any other way.
As for the instructions and the included hardware, let's just say it's good I'm pretty handy. Had I not installed wood planking drilled into the studs after purchasing longer lags (they included 2" lags, absolutely need 4" lags) the dip bar would have easily ripped out of the wall. The spacing of the holes does not allow for stud mount and they include plastic drywall anchors which would NEVER hold up the weight if I were doing dips with those alone.
All in all... I got exactly what I paid for. In fact, I think I got MORE than what I paid for. This thing is SOLID!!! Don't hesitate, it's absolutely PERFECT!!
Max Width = 25 1/2 inches Outside to Outside
