Garage Gym of the Week: Sidney Gadzinski

What’s your name? Sidney Gadzinski

How old are you? 16

Do you have an Instagram handle or website you’d like linked? https://www.instagram.com/_sidley_/

Tell us a little bit about yourself: I'm just a 16-year-old punk who really loves to workout. Got inspired by my father, Scott Gadzinski and his girlfriend, Christine Watts. They own Tc Total Crossfit. While I'm at my moms, I'm not allowed to work out there, so I put together a nice little garage gym.

How would you describe your training style (CrossFit, Olympic Weightlifting, etc.)? Do it all - Crossfit, Olympic Weightlifting, Odd object, and Endurance training.

How would you describe your fitness/strength level, currently? I'm actually quite fit, but seeing as i started 4 months ago, still getting strong. 115lbs snatch, 155C&J... you get the picture.

What are your fitness/strength goals? I really really really want to get to the teenage CrossFit division when I'm 17. Also want to get level 1 certified.

Describe your garage gym. Not great, have the bottom level titan fitness power rack, a bar I was given for free, rogue echo plates that I bought, couple dumbells, jump rope... I'm not exactly wealthy, so I cannot buy a bunch of quality equipment.

Who works out in your garage gym? Just me, the only person on my mom's side that does. :(

Why did you build a garage gym? I COULD NOT sacrifice my strength and fitness because my mother wouldn't let me go to my dad's gym. No excuses

What’s your favorite piece of equipment in your garage? Barbell. Not only do I need to get better at the Olympic lifts, plus I really enjoy Olympic lifting.

What piece of equipment was a waste? Nothing really, it all gets used.

What’s the next piece of equipment you’re going to get? Either a new barbell or air dyne

Any dream piece of equipment? Top-tier competition plates.

How did you build your garage gym? (All at once, craigslist over a few years, etc.) Sold unused things to raise money, literally just enough for a cheap power rack and bottom level rogue bumper plates. Still have a ways to go.

Do you have any tips for anyone else looking to build a garage gym? JUST DO IT, if you're motivated, the purchase will be so worth it.
