What are fractional plates?

Rickey snatching with fractional plates

Strength is sexy. Strength is fun. Strength is awesome. But building strength is sometimes a drag.

There are those days where the weight flies up and PRs crumble like so much paleo, gluten free, dairy free, wheat free, taste free bread, and then there are the other days. The days where you earn your PRs by shear force of will alone. When the bar says “no”, and you say “YES."

Fractional plates are for those days.

On solid PR days, you can slide 2.5# pound plates on the end of the bar and make jumps in weight 5 pounds at a time. For those other days, God invented fractional plates.

They come in 0.25lb increments, up to 1lb- so you can up your lifts by as little as 0.5lb at a time. This may not sound like much, but some days, you just need a PR, and micro loading with fractional plates (sometimes called change plates) is the way to get there.

So pick up a set for your garage gym or box- they’re $59 + Free Shipping, and just like everything we carry, they’re worth every penny. We also have incremental plates in kilos for $79 + Free Shipping.

@Shawne PR = Personal Record. In other words, this article says that while most people look for 5 or 10 pound jumps in their maximum lifts, fractional plates allow you to jump by 2 pounds or less.
