High & Low Handle Options

The high handles allow for a more upright torso position during the lift, which can be beneficial for individuals with mobility restrictions or back issues. On the other hand, the low handles simulate a traditional barbell deadlift starting position.

Rotating Gold Titanium Sleeves

Rotating sleeves allow the weights to rotate independently from the handles as they are lifted or lowered. This reduces the amount of torque and stress transferred to the lifter's wrists and joints, particularly during exercises like deadlifts, shrugs, or farmer's carries. The rotating sleeves also reduce friction between the weights and the barbell's sleeves, which helps minimize wear and tear on the bar.

Built In Deadlift Jack

The deadlift jack allows users to raise the barbell off the ground with minimal effort, making it easy for users of all fitness levels to change weight on the bar.

No, it is not rackable, but you can get a barbell holder to attach to the rack for storage.

The sleeve length is 12" long with 2 inch diameter that can fit five (5) 45lb Savage Bumper Plates on each side and seven (7) 45lb iron plates on each side.

The Midas Open Trap Bar offers several benefits over traditional straight bars:

  • Back Safety: The trap bar deadlift is often regarded as safer for the back compared to regular deadlifts, as it encourages a more upright posture, reducing spinal stress—ideal for those with back issues.

  • Compact Design: The trap bar is more compact, making it easier to store and move.

  • Versatility: Its open design allows for a wider variety of exercises than a traditional bar, including deadlifts, split squats, Romanian deadlifts, weighted carries, and lunges, all while maintaining stability and balance.

Yes, the Midas Open Trap bar has a lifetime warranty.

Needs some work

I really had high expectations for this bar but I just can’t get past a couple of things. First of all … it would be helpful to delete the reviews and customer pics from the old version of this bar because this is not the same bar and it’s very confusing when looking at customer pictures and reviews from the old bar. The new bar has bolt on handles, sleeves and feet. When loading plates the deadlift jack is useless after the first set of 45’s because the higher weight causes flex in the tubing which makes the weights touch the ground. It’s pretty frustrating getting my fringe bumper plates on and off this thing and makes me not want to use it at all. Also…the sleeves appear to have a downward slope when loading indicating that the frame is already bending, which doesn’t surprise me based on the diameter tubing. Im a big fan of fringe and I love alot of the stuff I purchase from them which is why I gave this bar a shot over other options, but this bar needs a design overhaul.

Exactly what I was looking for. Was packaged very well and went together easily. I am not using massive weights so the bolt on handles were not a concern and the sleeves are plenty long for cast iron plates. The only negative is the low handles do not have knurling, but I used hockey tape and actually prefer that to knurling.

Jack system needs improvement

Overall the product works well, but one of the main reasons that I purchased it was because of the Jack system. I do not if this is due to poor tolerances, but one side does not allow me to put plates on easily and I still need to lift that side up to get the plates on. I feel this could easily be fixed by just adding rubber spacers on the feet to raise it slightly off the ground. Even on the side that works the clearance is millimeters. If having a non-functional jacking system is a deal breaker, I would not recommend this product. Otherwise it works very well.

Could have been a great compact trap bar ...

Echoing what the others have said - seems like an oversight with regards to the height of the stand system once it gets over 45lbs on each side and the lack of knurling on the lower handle - would have been nice to have that.

Compact, Versatile, and Perfect for a Serious Home Gym

I’ve owned a lot of specialty bars over the years, and the Midas Open Trap Bar has quickly become one of my favorite pieces of equipment. The open design makes setup easier and provides far more exercise options than a traditional trap bar.As someone recovering from a C6-C7 cervical fusion, I appreciate how comfortable and joint-friendly this bar feels. The neutral grip reduces stress on the shoulders and spine while still allowing heavy loading and excellent muscle activation.Another huge advantage is the compact design. Space is always at a premium in a home gym, especially when you’re running a fully equipped boutique-style facility. Despite having a full-fledged gym at home, the Midas Open Trap Bar takes up very little space while delivering tremendous versatility. I regularly use it for deadlifts, carries, split squats, rows, and more.Build quality is outstanding, and it has quickly become one of the most valuable pieces in my gym. In fact, I feature the Midas Open Trap Bar in many of the injury-conscious training programs and exercise demonstrations we create at RebuiltProtocol.com, where our mission is helping people continue training around injuries and limitations rather than giving up.Highly recommended for anyone looking for a durable, versatile, and space-efficient trap bar that supports long-term training and joint health.

Does not meet expectations as advertised

Recently received the V3 open trap bar. Initially after purchasing a pre-order did not realize that the specs had changed. Bolt on handles instead of weld (mega negative as assembly is a pain and increase bend in bar contributing to sleeve sloping causing plate loading issues), longer sleeves (mostly positive), slightly higher weight (55lb). Very passive Knurl only on the high handles, no Knurl on low.The assembly was annoying and sketchy. Three bolts hold the very heavy sleeve on and the narrow gap to feed the sleeve onto the bolts while holding a heavy awkward bar made the assembly unnecessarily. These bolts I've also had issues of bending for the safeties of the Fringe Bob. The biggest issue after build is that the jacks literally do not work. Due to slop tolerances between the bar and the sleeve, when installing bumper plates the jacks do not contact the ground so loading and unloading is like a regular barbell but due to the shape of the trap bar and it being extremely unbalance coupled with spinning sleeves, the bar will rotate and guillotine on its own loading plates. I tried multiple locations all over my floor, found a completely level area and could not load plates with the jack. Looking back at Fringe's site you can actually see the jacks are not in complete contact to the floor either. Extremely disappointed with this version that folks should be aware of and avoid until another version as this size and build quality should be cheaper than other trap options but is sadly in the ballpark on price as well and in my mind, doesn't work as advertised.

Love the Midas

We’ve been using it every day, love the versatility with exercises but the loading/unloading with the stand is a game changer!!

Good bar, 2 big oversights

The trap bar is decent overall and gets the job done. However, there are two major oversights that make me wish I had gone with a different option.First, the stand system is too short. If you’re using bumper plates, you’ll need to raise it up slightly to get the plates on easily. I was able to get an iron 45 on, but it was dragging on the floor. To use it properly, I have to place the bar on two 5 lb plates, which essentially makes the stand system useless. The second issue is the lack of knurling on the lower handle. It’s not a major problem, but it is still somewhat disappointing.Given these two issues, I can honestly say I wish I had spent the extra money and gone with a competitor.

Disappointed in the bolt-together model

I've enjoyed other Fringe Sport products and wanted to love this bar, but can't really recommend it. I received one of the "V3" models about a month after ordering, though I didn't realize they'd switched to a bolt together construction until after it arrived. The price was fair, the finish looks good, and the bar is compact enough to fit into my home gym. However, the deadlift jack feature sits too low, so it doesn't work as advertised since you can't easily change plates in the upright position (maybe they could fix this by adding rubber covers/risers to the jack feet to increase the height?). The bar is not balanced, so it crashes towards the open side when you let go of the handles (watch your toes!). Knurling on the handles is pretty weak, and there is no knurling at all on the lower grip position. I'm not sure if these issues were as prevalent in the earlier welded models, but I would look at other options if I were to buy again.

Was hoping for more…

Was very excited to finally unbox and utilize this bar into our gym arsenal. The bar feels flimsy and I can’t imagine getting 5-600 pounds on it. Plus the jack doesn’t work at all with rogue bumper plates. Last, if you are over 185 pounds you will barely be able to fit within the center of the bar…it’s very tight. I’m going to designate this bar for our female clients only.

Open trap bar

Price, excellent, craftsmanship, very good. Quality of materials, excellent... One thing that was incorrect was dimension between handles, it's 22in, not 24in, as stated on website picture. But still I highly recommend this bar. It's real space saver in our garage gym.

Disappointed with open trap bar

I was lucky to receive a shipped package that was not broken (compared to other reviews) but there was a small scuff on the bar. This bar requires to be assembled, unlike many pictures on the reviews that show the previous welded version. It was not difficult to assemble but my guess is that the change from welded to assemble was a way to prevent damage during shipment. The matte black finish with the gold sleeves look awesome BUT there are major downsides to what could’ve been a great bar for the price.

My main complaint is that the “Built in deadlift jack” does NOT work. I have to pick up the bar to put a bumper plate, which defeats the whole point of the feature. I believe there is a slight bend to the bar, which is decreasing the clearance for the plate unless the bend was intentionally part of the design. Second, the bar is not balanced which is not a big deal but a balanced bar is always better. Third, unlike the previous (welded) model, there is no knurling on the lower handle.

Deadlift jack doesn’t lift high enough. Good customer service

Jack doesn’t lift high enough( i used fringe savage plates 10,25,35,45 and all touched the ground) so i had to add 1/4” rubber strip so that it’s useable. Fringe customer service offered suitable options to make it right. If the jack is a non negotiable for you, this may not work for you.

I Got Lucky

I read the reviews and knew to expect the box to arrive banged up. I figure gym equipment doesn't need to look pristine as long as it holds up. I was genuinely surprised to see how well everything was bubble wrapped and protected with foam. No, like actually surprised because the box was hanging on by a thread when it was delivered so I could see everything inside. That's where I got lucky. I could hear all the small parts rattling around. Who knows how everything managed to stay with the box? You can even see one of the feet sitting right outside the box. From previous customers photos I thought "yeah I'll take the chance at a scratched up bar" after seeing this I'm not sure I'd recommend you take that chance. With this being addressed by other customers and it's still happening, their actions show me they simply don't care.

Stout Trap Bar

Really like the shorter profile for my home gym. Easy to assemble and looks great! If you’re thinking of getting a trap bar..this is a great product at a very reasonable price.

Regret it mostly

It's hard to give a clear ranking to this because "it works" but that doesn't mean I enjoy using it. I've had this bar for about 2 months and have 6 workouts with it so far. First of all, you have to bolt it together yourself and that gives me a red flag from the start - this many screws and bolts, I just feel like it's likely to break down at some point. Otherwise, the powder coating feels kind of thin and it's already cracking up for me. The bar itself feels thin and maybe a little brittle too... It doesn't feel like it will take a beating or last long. Actually lifting with it, it doesn't feel incredibly stable, it swings backwards and rests on the non-open part, and the feet, no matter how much I tighten, come loose. They're not high enough for me either to use them effectively with my Hi-Temp bumper plates so simply loading up the bar is a complete pain.Maybe end of the day you get what you pay for since this isn't a "most expensive" tier bar, but I do wish I went with something else.
