The Midas Revenge Bar is suitable for all around use but slightly leaning towards Power Lifting (e.g. bench press, deadlifts, and squats).

Using a stiff nylon brush, 3-in-1 oil, and 2 rags, here are the essential things you need to do to keep your Midas Revenge Bar in top condition:

Step 1: Cleaning the Knurling

• Clean the knurling before oiling to prevent rust from debris like chalk and dirt.

• Use the brush to remove chalk and dirt from the knurl.

• Apply a small amount of oil to the knurling.

Step 2: Wipe the Bar Down With Oil

• Wipe the barbell with oil to protect against rust and wear, especially in harsh commercial gym environments.

• Apply oil to a rag, wipe down the entire bar, and work it into the knurling with a brush.

• Let the oil dry for a few minutes and then wipe off any excess with a clean rag.

Step 3: Lubricate the Bushings or Bearings

• Apply a few drops of oil to the inside of the sleeve where it meets the shaft while the bar is standing upright.

• Spin the sleeve to distribute the lubricant across the bushing or bearing.

• Wipe away excess oil and repeat for the other sleeve.

Other Maintenance Tips

• Avoid exercises like rack pulls, which can permanently bend the bar. Use a less valuable bar for these exercises if needed.

• Store the bar horizontally to prevent chalk from entering the sleeve assembly, ensuring smooth sleeve rotation.

Ideally, you should clean the chalk from the knurling daily or after each use of your barbell.

The sleeves are ribbed

No, the sleeves are coated in gold colored titanium. Titanium is 40% lighter than high-strength steel, but is just as strong. This means the sleeves on the Midas’ Revenge Bar are ultra-durable and resistant against oxidation. Unfortunately, real gold is super soft and easily bends, so it would be terrible for a coating on a barbell built for super performance.

Cerakote is a ceramic-based finish that can be applied to metals (like our barbells), plastics, polymers and wood. Cerakote makes a highly effective barrier against oxidation and corrosion. People living in marine environments or on a coast find this advantageous. Cerakote also helps defend against excess sweat (think lifting in Fringe HQ in Austin during hot summer months) and extremely hot and dusty environments as well.

Originally developed for the military for firearms application, Cerakote protects against corrosion resistance, enhances impact strength (so you can drop away!), and chemical resistance in the most extreme conditions worldwide.
