Key Features

  • Train Alone Without Second-Guessing Your Setup: The Needle holds serious weight without the bulk. At 15 lbs per arm, you get heavy-duty spotter protection that's actually easy to move between exercises.

  • Keep Your Rack Running the Way You Built It: At 3.8" wide and 3.5 holes tall, the Needle leaves your band pegs, dip attachments, and other gear completely accessible. Safety hardware that doesn't cost you your setup.

  • Universal Fit with Our Open Ecosystem: Most spotter arms are locked to one brand's rack. The Needle fits any 3x3 rack with 1" or 5/8" holes. Our gear is built to work across setups, not lock you into one ecosystem.

  • Only 3.5 Holes on Your Upright: Standard spotter arms can eat up most of your usable upright. The Needle takes up roughly 3.5 holes, leaving the rest of your rack free for other attachments and adjustments.

  • A Spotter Arm That Does More Than Spot: 1" holes on the side and top of the arms give you additional mounting points for compatible accessories. A dedicated 5/8" hole stores the magpin when it's not in use.

The Spotter Arms EVERYONE Is Talking About | The Needle Low Profile Spotter Arms

MORE SAFETY WITH LESS BULK

Standard spotter arms take up around 7 holes on a Dane 2 upright. The Needle takes up 3.5. At 15 lbs per arm and 2.5" wide, it's the lightest, slimmest spotter arm in this capacity class without giving up a pound of the 700 lbs it's rated for. Less hardware on your rack means more rack available for everything else you're running.

OPEN ECOSYSTEM FOR EVERY RACK

Most spotter arms are designed for 1" hole racks and treat 5/8" compatibility as an afterthought. The Needle was built with UHMW shims in the bracket specifically to fit both hole sizes across metric and imperial rack standards. If you've been hunting for spotter arms that actually fit your 5/8" rack without compromise, the Needle is what you've been looking for.

SPOTTER ARMS THAT PULL DOUBLE DUTY

The holes built into the Needle aren't just for show. 1" holes along the side and top give you additional mounting points for compatible accessories, and a dedicated 5/8" hole keeps your magpin stored on the arm when you're not using it. A spotter arm that pulls double duty without asking you to add anything else to your rack.

Spotter arms should disappear into your training. You set them, lift, and move on. The problem is most of them are too bulky to ignore.

Standard spotter arms are large, heavy, and occupy a significant stretch of your upright. On a rack like the Dane 2, that eats into the holes you need for other attachments and makes repositioning between exercises more work than it should be. If you're running a fully kitted setup, oversized spotter arms are a real problem.

The Needle was designed around a different set of priorities. Each arm is 15 lbs and takes up roughly 3.5 holes on your upright, compared to the 7 holes a standard spotter arm uses on the Dane 2. The profile is slim at 2.5" wide with a weight capacity of 700 lbs.

The mounting system uses two points of contact: the magpin runs side to side through the upright and the bracket rests on two edges, distributing the load and keeping the arm stable under heavy weight. The lowest mounting position on the Dane 2 and similar units puts the arm at 14 inches off the floor, which covers the range you need for low bench work and floor-level pressing movements.

Compatibility was built in from the start. UHMW shims inside the bracket let the Needle fit racks with 1" or 5/8" holes in both metric and imperial configurations. Most spotter arms are locked to one rack ecosystem. The Needle works across them all. If you have a 5/8" rack, this is the answer you've been looking for.

The arms also have 1" holes along the sides and top, so you can attach compatible accessories and build out your setup beyond basic spotting. A dedicated 5/8" hole on each arm stores the magpin when you're not using it. Both magpins are included.

The Needle fits any 3x3 rack with 1" or 5/8" holes, in both metric and imperial configurations. UHMW shims in the mounting bracket handle the size difference between hole standards.

700 lbs.

Two Needle Spotter Arms and two magpins.

Each arm occupies roughly 3.5 holes on your upright. For reference, standard spotter arms use around 7 holes on a Dane 2.

On the Dane 2 and similar units, the lowest mounting position puts the arm at 14 inches off the floor.

The 1" holes on the side and top of the arms give you additional mounting points for compatible accessories. The 5/8" hole on each arm stores the magpin when it's not in use.

The magpin runs side to side through the upright and the bracket rests on two edges of the steel rather than one. This distributes load across two contact points, keeping the arm stable and secure under heavy weight.

Innovation and style

I am a fringe sports super fan! The innovation is awesome. The affordability is great.
The spotter arms are definitely low profile and functional. Solid piece of equipment. The plastic got beat up after just one use and I’d really like it if I could have chosen The color of the magpins but other than that another home run for Fringe sports and their customers.

Good, fits nice.

I didn't notice the shim inside so I emailed and customer service helped me promptly. First time buying a fringe product so it wasn't as obvious to me.

Only downside is the uhmw or plastic liner can easily get scuffed and is very reflective and shows marks really well. Also it game gouged, but I've reached out to customer service and I'm sure they'll help me out again.

The actual spotter is lightweiight and low profile as promised so thats great

Almost Great

For background purposes, I have a REP PR-5000 six post rack with dual Athena weight stacks.

Pros:
These take up a lot less space on the uprights. The lowest I could get with the REP spotter arms is 20 inches from the ground, whereas I can get down to just under 15" with these arms.
As you can see in the attached pictures, if I take the UMHW off the nose, I can fit these arms pointing towards the inside of the rack. That could open up the potential to do dips or other exercises by attaching compatible handles to them.
I was able to mount a weight horn through the holes on side, allowing me to get a perfect height to use my Gripedo forearm trainer.

Negatives:
The holes are very inconsistent and tend to run on the small side. The magpins that Fringe shipped with the arms fits in all the holes with no problem. The magpins I have from Mikolo only fit in 70% of the holes. For my REP Leg Rollers, the short threaded section can get into all the holes, but it gets stuck on the shaft. I was unable to mount the leg roller on any part of either arm.
Loose fit and wobbly. Because this is designed to fit a variety of racks, some fluctuation is to be expected. Racks designed using Imperial measurements, such as Rogue, will likely have a very tight fit, and racks designed around metric, such as REP, will tend to be on the loose side. This doesn't bother me, but it some users may have issues with it.

Overall assessment: I find these arms to be worth the cost, but I'm going to take them to a local metal shop to get the holes drilled out a little larger so I can actually fit 1" attachments on them. As an early adopter, these kinds of things are natural. I'm sure Fringe will improve on this on future orders.

Solid spotter arms! Packaging was good and they fit my 3x3 perfectly with only a small amount of vertical play.

Great design

Solid build, yet much lighter and easier to maneuver than my previous stealth spotters from a different company that were far more expensive. Some things are great to have overbuilt, but based upon the strength test of these in Fringe’s video these are more than strong enough for what I need.

As mentioned in other reviews, there was an issue with the 1” side holes being slightly too small for mag pins or band pegs that weren’t from Fringe. However they were very quick to reply to my message and are resolving it. Great service and a great product! These are my favorite purchase from FS so far.

Thank you so much for the wonderful review! We’re delighted you’re enjoying the spotters and that they’re lighter and easier to maneuver, while still being strong enough for your training.

Thanks for flagging the side hole fit with non-Fringe pins and pegs too. We’re glad our team responded quickly, and we’re working to get that resolved for you. It means a lot that these are your favorite purchase from Fringe Sport so far! 💪

Almost perfect

These spotter arms serve their main purpose pretty much perfectly. They take up very little space and they spot you. However… the last 2-3 side holes close to the nose of the spotter arms will not allow for a 1 inch mag pin because of tolerance issues. All other holes are fine though. I was intending on using a stray dog lat seat with these but it looks like I can’t because of the tolerance issues in the side holes. Aside from that these are by far the best value spotter arms I’ve seen in my opinion.

I like the stability and look of the product, and feel safe while using it.

The main problem is that the side holes are not 1 inch holes as advertised. They are a bit too small as none of my other brand attachments fit in them. This is disappointing as I was planning to do a variety of exercises utilizing these holes, but now I can’t.

Not quite versatile enough for my needs

Great concept and solid construction; however, the functionality of the spotter arms is heavily dependent on your rack’s side hole spacing given the side safety pin design. I have a Titan X-3 rack and cannot use the arms for spotting flat bench as the required height is in between two side holes (i.e., arms sit too high or too low on rack relative to chest height on bench). Bummer, as I thought these were the answer to my spotter arm search.

Hello Brian-thank you foryour feedback we would love to see a photo of the issue you are running into?

Holes are only for decoration or mag pins

It will save me alot of room. Construction is very nice. I was hoping to hang my j cups off for storage. But I can't. Materials are nice. Welds inside are nice. I did have kind of a messed up center pin. Didn't line up exactly right. Or wasn't drill and tapped exactly right. Not sure. Bent it into place. Works good now. I would still highly recommend. I won't be installing dip bars like some people.

Excellent and better than expected

I got these early and I am thoroughly impressed. Other low profile spotter arms can go $400+, so these seemed like an excellent option. They feel and look even better in person than in their pictures which was a pleasant surprise and are very solid. I also think they got the dimensions just right because they're short enough to open up space on the rack while being long enough for me to feel comfortable doing squats/bench. Only issue I found was that they fit a little tight on my rack, but I think that will go away once they loosen up. I'm going to give these a 5 stars due to the reasons above and highly recommend.
