Please come support your community's adaptive athletes from Austin Parks and Recreation Special Olympics group (APR 13), by working out with them and having some fun afterward.

The community workout will be held here at Fringe HQ, 3725 Drossett on April 20th at 10:30 am. Get here a bit early to get paired up and ready to lift for the Crossfit partner workout.

The event is being co-hosted by Friends of McBeth, which is a non-profit organization, with the goal of supporting Special Olympic athletes as well as all programs at McBeth Recreation Center.

The goal of this event is to spread the word about Fringe and McBeth’s Adaptive Sports Program to the community while creating a healthy, inclusive, and fun environment.

There's a suggested donation of $15, but any and all contributions will be greatly appreciated! All proceeds will benefit the McBeth Special Olympic athletes in areas such as equipment costs, scholarship funds, and fees for state competition travel. If you can't make it, you can contribute here.

The Austin Parks and Recreation Special Olympic Delegation offers 9 year-round sports to over 150 individuals with disabilities ages 6-99. The majority of the athletes live in group home settings and come from low socioeconomic backgrounds.

The Austin Parks and Recreation Special Olympics group is the largest delegation in Central Texas. APR 13 participates in 10 different sports throughout the year with a total of about 180 athletes. Some of these sports include basketball, tennis, soccer, swimming, and volleyball. APR 13 relies heavily on dedicated coaches, unified partners, and other volunteers to assist at practices, tournaments, and sports banquets.

Keep up-to-date with Friends of McBeth at their Facebook page here.
